Things are happening fast these days, and a lot of it is bad news. But you’ve got to keep your mind on the good things in the world.
There is no need to panic. A lot of people are out buying extra water, food, and other supplies in case there is a big shortage. I am not going to do that.

I have some suggestions to take your thoughts off the news. Give these a try and tell me what you think.
- Drink some water and relax. Yes, water is good for you and I bet you’re not drinking as much as you should. You don’t have to drink too much, no, so just make sure you’re meeting your daily intake goals. Ask a health professional if you are unsure.
- Go exercise. Most people don’t exercise enough and they spend too much time sitting. You don’t have to go overboard with this, but just get more exercise. Try walking in the neighborhood. Hey, you might see that person that you like so much. You will probably feel better if you move around, get out, and have a good time outside.
- Do spring cleaning. This needs to be done all year along because people tend to accumulate a lot if stuff or junk. Seriously, that garage is not going to clean itself.
- Get involved. Please do not hibernate and disappear from society. You don’t have to go mingle with the public, but at least stay connected online with your neighborhood groups and local organizations.
- Drink some coffee or tea. This is a favorite way to start the day for many people, so I’m not suggesting anyone not have their cup of joe.
- Take pictures. This activity is fun and free. Why pay for portrait photos when you can do it at home? Even better, use sunlight to try to make the best pics possible that show your youth and vigor. People like beautiful photographs.
- Clean our your closet. I write about this a lot for a reason. Do you have lots of clothes and shoes that you haven’t worn in ages? You should sell that stuff or donate it. After all, don’t you want to look good in your best clothes? Yes, you do.
- Read stories on Medium. Well, yes, of course you should be doing this. I know my favorite Medium writers and I’m going to visit their profiles today and read their work. You should do it too, and tell your friends and neighbors. Medium is my favorite place on the internet.
There will be a lot of news this year. Some of it will frighten people and they may decide to quickly stock up on basic necessities. Let’s all work together to stay calm and not overreact. Keep busy and work hard. We will thrive together.
