Are You Doing Too Much?

Maybe you can achieve more but doing a lot less in your life

Too much happened today in my life.

Seriously!

I’m not really complaining, mind you, because half of the day was related to attendance at a major league baseball game.

But it got me thinking. How do we find ourselves with days that are too packed and crowded with events?

And how do we prevent them from happening?

I have a few ideas:

  • Calculate total time. Write down the exact amount of time you will be gone during an event or task. Then ask yourself if that is too much.
  • Find ways to save time. Maybe you added an extra item into your schedule that isn’t worth the total added time that it needs. Be willing to remove things.
  • Free up more days. Seriously, you don’t have to be busy every single weekend. Schedule days when you do absolutely nothing at all.

Most of us are not super young any more. Adults need more breaks than we used to, and hopefully that means more days without leaving the house.

If your life is becoming a series of overlapping or conflicting appointments or outings, I suggest you ponder the possibility of more free time in your life.

Maybe less is more. I think that means that fewer items on your itinerary could mean more relaxation time for you. And that might be a very good thing indeed.
