Change is a part of life, but often it comes at unexpected times. We have to learn to accept change, work with it, and understand that being on the move helps us adapt to a changing world.

How do you react when you hear about upcoming moves or big changes in your organization? If you have negative or nervous reactions, you may need to change your perspective for the better.

Here are some suggestions on how you can interpret upcoming changes and use them to help propel your career:

Welcome the change

Modifications to a company’s structure can happen slowly or quickly, and you need to be on alert for these events. You don’t have to obsess or worry about them, but just let your senses help keep you informed. Try to be like a young person who is able to quickly adapt.

Assist the change

If you hear about how things are going to be different going forward, try not to resist the change. You should assist, not resist. You may not know that the business must make certain adjustments in order to survive.

Show your worth

If you are worried about your status going forward with the company, try not to show it. I recommend that you keep busy, work hard, and seek ways to be valuable.

Keep learning

I say this a lot because it is very important. In this day and age, you have to do all you can to keep up on your skills and knowledge. Learn as many new software programs and social media skills as possible. Keep up on change sin your profession.

These are just a few suggestions on why you need to keep moving like a rolling stone and how you should not be gathering moss, as the saying goes. Keep working hard, trying hard, and being the best you can do.

Do more than just the minimum that is required of you. Do more, strive for more, and achieve more. You have more talent and skills than you think you do.

If you need assistance in keeping on the move, seek out those who are fans of your work and stay connected with them. We all need a little encouragement now and then to become the best that we can be, now and in the future. Keep moving, keep learning, and keep rolling like a rolling stone.
