It is easy to find a lot of suggestions on the internet about the importance of washing hands, disinfecting, cleaning the house, and making sure that outside objects get sanitized or scrubbed. Yes, these things are mandatory if we want to protect ourselves and our homes.
But there is not a lot of discussion about the cleaning of the soul and mind. I think there should be more of this in the news and in newsletters, websites and blogs.
Some consider the soul to be similar to or identical with the mind, in that we feel with our thoughts and exist in how we treat others. The soul becomes an extension of our love for others and our own self, so they say.
It could be that we need to find ways to clean out the soul and mind, and disinfect the negative energies and doubts that trouble us and prevent us from succeeding or giving love to others.
How can one purify the soul? Here are some suggestions:
- Be kind to others
- Have love in your heart
- Be good to your friends and neighbors
- Help those who are less fortunate
There are ways to help clean the mind:
- Declutter your home so you don’t have too much to think about
- Find ways to simplify your life
- Do fewer things that are more meaningful
- Find ways to be productive
- Think positive thoughts
- Learn from mistakes and don’t dwell on them
These are just a few ideas to help you find peace in your soul and your mind. There are other ways of course, so make sure you find the pathways that work best for you. Either yoga or church, or sports gatherings or self-help groups, there are plenty of strategies that will help you along the way.
