Daily Microaggressions
Learning to live in this world can be a big challenge to say the least
It’s another day.
So that can mean one thing for certain. One thing you can really count on to arrive on this planet.
More microaggressions.
Microaggressions are those little verbal or nonverbal things that have a way of hurting you in some way, either emotionally or psychologically.
Here’s an example:
Recently I was at a store and I was waiting in line. Somehow another customer was able to get to a service employee before me.
“It’s not a big deal," I thought.
But it was. It felt like a subtle microaggression where the person could see that I was in line already.
Even worse, another customer saw this too and expressed nonverbal dismay to me about it but in a manner that was derogatory to the other person. This was too much and I shook my head and wondered how I got into this situation.
Just yesterday I was talking about a fun plan for the coming weekend. It’s an affordable outing that is enjoyed by youth and adults alike.
“I just can’t afford that kind of wealthy lifestyle, and it’s too rich for me," replied somebody via text.
