The environment is important. This is so true and so central to the future of the planet.
Each and every one of us has a part to play in making the environment better. We need to do more environmentally-conscious things all of the time.
Businesses and companies have bigger effects on the planet. We expect more of them and know they will do better.
But what about the new policy of requiring customers to bring their own coffee mugs or reusable containers? Are you on board with that?
Let’s think for a minute about what needs to happen for cafes and coffee shops to buy cups and lids for their customers?
- A factory makes the paper cups
- Another business makes the plastic kids
- A company makes the boxes into which is placed the cups and lids
- Another entity transports the boxes full of cups and lids
- And so forth
Do you see all of the environmental effects and pollution that come from all of these steps? There is quite a lot going on every day.
And what happens to these one-time-use cups and lids?
- They end up in the trash
- People toss them on the road
- They’re not recycled
- They’re not reused or repurposed
Do you see how important it is to bring your own cup or container? Imagine the benefits to the environment if millions or billions of people eliminated all of the waste and pollution that comes with disposable cups and lids.
This is our world. We have to do our part to make it better.
You don’t have to stop having your cup of joe at the local coffee shop. Just bring your reusable mug and walk away happy.
