This is what we do every day. We write and hopefully do a good job at it. If not, try again.

“Type faster," my editor used to say to me when I worked at a local newspaper. “We are on a deadline."

“Right away," I answered quickly, while I was talking on two phones with different callers. The main telephone light board was lit up with calls coming on every line.

This is what happens in a newsroom and I loved every minute of it. Too bad it didn’t last long enough for me.

It was time for me to leave town and head to the big city of Los Angeles. More specifically, I wanted to go back there because I had not accomplished all of my goals for the big city.

Why leave a good stable position in a newsroom when I was part of something good? After all, there is no guarantee you will be welcomed back anywhere if the people you know go somewhere else.

I wanted to go. My mind was set up. I missed the excitement of a huge metropolis. Even though I didn’t have anything lined up and nowhere to stay, I could feel inside me that this was the time to do it. It was now or never.
