My Lover Had Her Favorite Hotels

I can’t seem to escape the memories, because every hotel feels and looks the same to me. Maybe I just don’t want to forget the past.

I remember our first hotel and it seemed so secretive back then. We drove two counties over so we could keep our passion a secret.

You know how people like to talk? Well, we were young and we cares about what others thought of us and what they might say. Little did we know how little those things mattered.

“Come on," she said after we checked into our first hotel together. “Just sit for a minute."

We found some comfortable chairs located halfway down the first floor.

“You’re so beautiful," I said sincerely.

“Stop," she replied, though maybe she didn’t want me to.

We only had some duffel bags for our things, as it would be a few years before we invested in durable luggage. I bet we looked nervous as twenty-somethings do at their first hotel trips.

“Come on," I urged, as I lifted her out of the chair.

“Just trying to memorize the moments," she replied as she put her arm up on my back inside the shirt. “You’re so warm."

The fancy hotel was nearly vacant, given its high price and distance from our town. We didn’t care about the cost of things like we would later on.

Inside the room we slipped out of our clothes except for our underwear, then we put on our bath robes.

Nobody was down at the pool and we knew nobody else would be there this evening.

It didn’t take long for our bathrobes to come off as we stepped down into the warm water of the pool with the cool wind breeze keeping us refreshed.

“Walk with me to the deep end," she whispered as she tugged me along.

I tried not to stare at her white bra and pink panties, but I couldn’t resist.

The pool lights went off except for one, and we knew we had our privacy.

She held my body tight and kissed my cheeks and then my mouth. It seemed wrong for us to be there like this.

After a while she said, “Let’s go sit by the fire."

Our underwear was wet but warm and we covered up with the bathrobes.

The fireplace near the pool was perfect and the cushions soft as can be. We were alone and had everything to ourselves.

Time seemed to stop still, but also to speed up too much.

She leaned over and put her hand on my thigh.

“Let’s go back to the room," she said warmly. “We can take a hot shower together."
