Take It Up A Notch And Your Medium Stories Can Soar
If you want to stand out, you better work harder than the next person online. For sure.
One day I was hiking a small mountain with a young lady friend. It was a beautiful day and the trail was enjoyable but with a good incline.
“It’s so beautiful here," I said. “Do you think we will see any animals?"
“I didn’t come here to chit-chat," she replied.
Goodness, I thought. What is this all about?
Many years have passed since then and I often wonder what she meant. Literally, it seemed like she wanted to go hiking with me, because frankly she had asked me to meet her there, but maybe she and I had different ideas about what it was going to entail.
This story reminds of the joy and pain of writing and the position each of us has relative to where we are now and the writer we want to become in the future. Some writers are serious about their craft and they are not about to be distracted by something else or a different idea of writing success.
Just like some mountain hikers are there to hike the trail, and a partner can come along if they know their place and stay serious about the journey to the top.
