The Cold Empty Plaza

You can imagine the rest of it

Sometimes

It’s nice

To have an empty plaza

To enjoy the quiet

All to yourself

But then you start to wonder

Just why

Is it so empty

And then the cold fear

Makes you think about

The emptiness

The lack of noise

The solitary soul

Of yourself

Having the whole empty plaza

No buyers

No sellers

Just you

Thankful for the quiet

Until

Inevitably

It’s okay again

For the hustle and bustle

Of big crowds

To gather and linger and jostle

Just like it used to be

So very long ago
