Happiness can be hard to find sometimes. There are barriers that pop up and hard walls that seem to do whatever they can to keep happiness away from you.
You can still find your way to being happy. It takes work, but the work will be worth it in the end.
What steps can you take to find happiness for your heart, mind and soul?
Here are a few suggestions:
- Find things that bring you joy. This can be a hobby, a sunset, a favorite food, a soft pair of socks, a wonderful book, or almost anything else. And once you know these things and how they make you feel, don’t every forget about them. For example, I love grapes and I could eat them at every meal every day of they year. Sometimes I forget about them and then wonder how I could have forgotten about them at all. They definitely contribute to my happiness.
- Identify the people in your life who support you and who sincerely care about you. Reach out to them and make sure that they are a regular part of your life. Even if you barely know them on a website, keep connecting with them and do what your can to make sure you are part of each other’s lives. You contribute to each other’s happiness.
- Find your talents and skills and use them to do well. I don’t mean to suggest that you have to have a career in them or even make money with them. Let your abilities remind you of your worth, that you can do things that not everyone else can do. When you utilize your strengths, your mind reminds yourself of your capabilities. Even little things like fixing things or gardening or making cupcakes can matter a lot. These skills and talents contribute to your happiness.
- Involve yourself in groups where fun and recreation are top priorities. Try and remember when you used to hang out with friends and the only goal was to have a good time. I remember many days of my youth skateboarding with my friends to the comic book shop. I cry sometimes when I think of how much fun that was and how we didn’t have a care in the world. These fun groups contribute to your happiness.
Life will not be happiness all the time. Challenges seem to come from many directions and often we feel that we don’t have the strength to handle it all alone. If so, remember the things and people that bring you joy and happiness, and reach out for more.
We are going to make it in this world. We are going to conquer this planet together, you and me.
