It’s not easy being a writer. After all, people expect your work to be witty, informative, interesting and newsworthy. That’s a big assignment.

But hey, you know what they say, it’s a lot easier to do a job when you’re having fun doing it. That’s why you need to try and have a whole lot of fun as a writer.

Here are some suggestions:

• Do a contest. Readers love the idea of winning something, even if it’s just a written post that they are the winner. I would sure like that too. Just remember to be fair and not too strict. Also, try to have winners in multiple categories.
• Write about your favorite place. I could write on and on about beaches in Santa Monica and Malibu and how I miss them and can’t wait to go back. I recommend sandals because, goodness, the sand sure does get hot and you don’t want to be barefoot. Sunscreen too!
• Create a prompt or respond to one from someone else. It’s fun to get others involved and to see what they can create from a prompt. I see other writers do these on Medium and it looks so much fun.
• Use your own photos and artwork. You probably have hundreds of photos that you can use for your stories. It’s a nice break for readers to see real…
