Recently I was part of a team that had to compete against other teams in different activities.

I was nervous.

I knew that I had to keep my expectations realistic.

“You can’t control the events and outcomes,” I said to myself.

“The other teams will have outstanding players with great skills."

But in the back of my mind, I knew that I was going to give maximum effort regardless of my level of ability. My goal was to keep my enthusiasm high.

What happened?

I lost each and every activity in which I was a member. Every single one.

I let my team down for sure. Although I couldn’t understand how it happened, I realized that I’m not young and fast any more.

Regardless, I still cheered wildly for my team in all remaining events. Every activity still mattered and my enthusiasm was not diminished by one bit.

As the hours progressed, our team slowly got a win here, another win there, and soon we were tied for the lead and it had to go to tiebreaker events.

What happened?

Well, my friend, we somehow managed to win the whole competition and get the first place prize.

What’s my point?

Keep believing in yourself and expect great things to happen. Don’t give up because you lose a battle or face adversity. Be strong and remember that you have many more contests where you can do well.

Write your own stories of victory. Create scenarios where you come from behind and end up victorious. You can do it.
