Sometimes, as a writer, I feel like a solo palm tree, out there on a beach with no fellow tree species in sight.

Why is that?

Some stories seem to go into a black hole from which nothing ever escapes. Maybe this has happened to others. If so, I understand the feeling that it doesn’t seem possible that nobody has read or interacted with my little piece of writing.

Well, it happens. No big deal.

I know just the word that can help you get back on track. It’s pretty simple, actually.

That word is: feedback.

FEEDBACK MATTERS

Feedback is really important to writers and content creators.

First, it’s important to know that your work is being seen by real humans

Second, it’s great to receive information about your work, even if it can be a critical response instead of a positive affirmation.

Third, you can tailor your content to the style or niche that seems to connect with the most readers or fans.

It’s important to understand the difference between feedback and hostility. Not all feedback is appropriate so make sure you protect yourself, first of all, and then make sure you help to maintain the standards and professionalism of whichever media platform is being used.

Listen to your fans, friends and followers. Accept constructive criticism and adapt as needed or don’t change at all, but take the time to listen to suggestions if you can.
