Yes, Desperate For Money

It seems like everybody is trying to get the rest of our disposable income, every single day

I got an email just now.

I’m not going to open it.

But it says that there is a big sale coming soon and I could get awesome discounts.

Nope, I’m not going to open it!

Okay, I read the email. Can you guess the content? It said that there are plenty of great items on sale for wonderful stocking stuffer gifts at affordable prices.

Why did I even read it?!?

It’s just another company trying to get the rest of my small amount of remaining disposable income. Is there no end to this madness? Come on, man.

Big Discounts

I’m a big fan of saving money and cutting expenses. Nobody likes saving more than me. Okay, correction on that. I’m sure that there are plenty of people who have ways to save money and cut costs out there and of course I have plenty to learn from others.

I’m not advocating that we stop shopping altogether. Some gifts are fine. It is the season of sharing and giving to others feels nice.

Here are some ideas:

  • Give smaller gifts
  • Use hotel nights as a gift
  • Take time to write a message of love
  • Call somebody today
  • Give your love
  • Offer a hug (where appropriate)

Need vs Want

It sure is fun to choose things and make a purchase, right? But you don’t have to do it. You can walk away and leave your online cart without committing your money.

Times are tough. Every day seems to bring more turmoil in the financial markets. How are people going to make it?

  • Inflation
  • Unemployment
  • Two or three jobs
  • High interest rates
  • Extra fees everywhere

Every time I turn around it seems like some company wants more of my money. I’m serious. I see that in the emails I receive in my inbox.

You know what? I think next time I will just not open that solicitation that is trying to get me to buy something. I will just click delete and make it go away.
