Are you meeting your goals or do you need to reduce expectations for the quarter?

Sometimes I will see on the news about a business cutting their forecasted sales or production for the quarter.

And then I wonder why.

Seriously, it puzzles me. The company sets a goal for the quarter at the beginning and then, somewhere in between, they issue a news release that they are revising their goal.

The reason?

My guess is that they want to lower expectations so that investors are not terribly disappointed when the final numbers are announced.

So I got to thinking about myself and my own goals for this quarter, these last three months of the calendar year.

My goal for the remaining three months of the year is to do really well and be productive.

Yes, that’s too vague. I am going to have to try to be more specific. It’s important to have goals that are measurable and clearly definable. That’s something I’m going to do.

It’s important to have a clear forecast of what you want to achieve as a writer in a set period…
