Start setting new goals for yourself today

I recommend that you set goals for yourself during your writing career. That is simple enough. It’s actually something that anybody and everybody should in regards to all kinds of things.
Goals help you do all kinds of things:
- Measure your progress
- Keep you motivated
- Help you improve
- Focus your efforts
- Do things better
- Get more results
- Figure out what’s wrong
- Determine what can be better
Setting goals can absolutely set you apart from the rest of writers on Medium or anywhere else on the internet. That is not to say that setting goals and reaching them will guarantee you more income and increased success. Not necessarily.
Goals can push you where you want to go and pull you when things get different or difficult. Setting goals can keep your energy focused and narrowed, and that can lead to more income and more fans or followers.
What kind of goals should you set as a writer?
Here are some ideas.
- Number of stories. Quantity does matter in life and this is something easily measured or counted. Let’s say you wrote five stories this month. You could set a goal of writing ten next month.
- Increased income. Do you want more money? That is important. If you made ten dollars this month, you could set your goal to make twenty dollars next month. That is a measurable goal and you can check your progress along the way
- More subscribers, fans or followers. Like a newspaper, it helps to have plenty of subscribers or followers. You don’t have to have a huge number. It’s hard to say…
